Extremism Hurts Families
What You Need to Know
Welcome to the parent's video page, here we have several videos which have been designed and delivered by a parent who has had a loved one involved in the Extreme Right-Wing (ERW).
To assist professionals in supporting parents and provide much-needed support to families themselves, Small Steps has created a number of resources from a lived experience perspective that will help families better understand how a loved one can become involved in extremism, the impact on families and much more.

Entitled - Family Matters, this set of videos are in animation and is narrated by Sarah,
a mom who has had a son involved in ERW extremism.
To develop people's understanding, these videos can be viewed on their own to aid people's education on the ERW and how it recruits or people can watch them in a small group and then have a discussion about what people think and how families can be supported.

Supporting families, in 2016 Small Steps helped establish the Exit Hate Trust charity (1197666).
Dedicated to helping people impacted directly by extremism, Exit's focus is to help individuals leave and families cope with the heartache and trauma of having a loved one involved with extremism.

If you have a question, need support or just need a talk you can reach out to Prevent, by searching - Prevent plus your city name, ACT Early at - https://actearly.uk/ or for lived experience support, you can talk to a family member who has been through this themselves reaching.

Families Need Support - Let's Help Them Get It
Introducing - Families Matter
Looking at things differently, what do you think it is like for a friend, who is approached by a close friend who has a son involved in extremism? How could they be supportive and what advice could they give? Watch this short video and why not have a discussion about what you or someone could say?
Then have a wider discussion on how this would feel as a friend, would this put them under pressure,
could they be honest, could it damage their relationship. What do you think?
Highlighting what it is like for a mom with a loved one involved in extremism, please watch and listen to the following short animation films which are all delivered by Sarah, a mom who herself has had a son involved in ERW Extremism.
Offering a unique insight,
Sarah opens up discussing various aspects of life as a mom of a far-right activist.
